Evgeny Svechnikov would be the lone goal scorer for the Sharks late in the first, as they weathered 35 shots on goal in the game. The second period would prove to be the Sharks downfall as the Hurricanes funneled 17 shots and Necas would score with 23 seconds left. The third would be the nail in the coffin as Aho would direct a puck off the skate to the back of the net with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game.
