The Sharks would be out played in the first frame with a 2:1 ratio of shots on net in favor of the Rangers. In addition to the shot counter being tilted, the Sharks would be physically manhandled by the Rangers checking line. A bad hit delivered by ex-Shark Ryan Carpenter on Nico Strum would be emblematic of the Sharks physical frustrations. The second period would be better than the first with the shots being almost even, but without any sustained pressure in Ranger’s zone the team generated few dangerous chances. The Rangers would score late in the 3rd period on a tip-in which spoiled Reimer’s impressive night. An empty netter would prove to be the game deciding goal when Logan got the Sharks on the board late with 15 seconds remaining in the game. Reimer would end the night with a .976% save pct but would not prove enough to beat the Blue Shirts.
