After allowing a goal in each of the first 2 periods the Sharks would hold themselves in striking distance in the game. Nico Strum would get a gritty goal unassisted in the first minute of third period jump starting the Sharks on offense. Ryan Carpenter would equalize the game at 4:27 in the 3rd after tipping in a Jun Rutta point shot. The Sharks would hold up on defense until the overtime period started, not needing more the 1:30 Tomas Hertl would score an amazing tic tack toe winner.
