Upcoming Events For The 2021-2022 San Jose Sharks Season

As we return to watching hockey live inside SAP Center, the San Jose Sharks have implemented some changes for the 2021-2022 season. In our recent talk with Doug Bentz, the Sharks VP covered some events planned for fans.

Sharks Skills Showcase

Starting at 1 p.m on Sunday, October 10th, SAP Center will host the Sharks Skills showcase. The first-ever event will feature players from the current San Jose Sharks NHL roster. The players with participate in five different skills challenges, testing their agility and accuracy throughout the afternoon. Sharks broadcasters Randy Hahn, Dan Rusanowsky and Bret Hedican will provide live commentary and player interviews during the event.

The Sharks roster is divided into two teams, Team Teal vs Team White. The team coming away with the most wins is crowned the first Skills Showcase Champion. Challenges for the event include hardest shot, accuracy, relay, breakaway, and a goalie challenge, similar to the skills event at the NHL All Star Game.

Several additional activations will occur around the concourse, including a special sale. During the event, all Sharks clearance merchandise is 50% off (excluding jerseys and game-used items). For more information, including ticketing, visit sjsharks.com/skills.

Opening Night

The Sharks begin the regular season against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday, October 16th. Prior to the game, a march from San Pedro Square to a street rally on Barack Obama Blvd. (formerly Autumn St) will take place. The NBCSN pregame show will take place outside the arena while the usual merch tents, photo spots, and kiosks will be available.

Fans can expect a new intro presentation and in-game host. All fans in attendance will receive a Welcome Back Pack, featuring a commemorative pin, schedule magnet and digital fan kit.

Seasonal Promotions

Every season, the Sharks feature a variety of promotions including shirsey and bobblehead giveaways handed out to all fans through the door while other giveaways require the purchase of a promotional ticket. So far, the Sharks announced following giveaways:

  • October 30th – Los Tiburones shirsey
  • November 20 – Hockey Fights Cancer shirsey
  • January 22 – SJ Sharkie shirsey
  • February 26 – Black History Month shirsey
  • March 5 – Hockey Is For Everyone shirsey

Typically, Fan Appreciation night is the final home game of the season. As a result of the final home game falling on a Tuesday this season, fans will be appreciated on the previous Saturday.
